Theatre in English: plays, improv, readings

The Hamburg Players e.V. is the city's oldest English-language amateur theatre group. Putting on a play three times a year is a team sport: it takes a dedicated cast and crew to put together each production. Apart from the cast and director, many departments are involved in each play, such as sound, lighting, costumes, set-building, props, hair and make-up, prompting... the list goes on, and we are always happy to welcome new people on-board.

In addition to theatre productions we do lots of other fun stuff too, like a monthly play reading, a weekly improv workshop or social gatherings.

Improv

The improv workshop is a wonderful opportunity for actors and non-actors alike to work on creativity, spontaneity - and "yes, and-ing"! The group has been focussing on long-form improv for a while now and is keen to expand their skills in this department.

We invite you to join us for our "Open Improv Workshops", usually held on the first Wednesday of each month. If you are interested in joining, please notify Martin at improv@hamburgplayers.de in advance.

Play readings

In order to find good new plays that we like, that are suited to us, our audience and are technically feasible at Theater an der Marschnerstraße we regularly read plays and reviews. Every last Friday of each month, we get together at the clubhouse in Oberaltenallee in order to read new plays as a group (yes: aloud!).

These play readings are open to members and those wishing to join the Hamburg Players. Please contact someone from the club if you are joining us for the first time just to be sure there have been no schedule changes (info@hamburgplayers.de).

Choir

The Hamburg Players also enjoy singing. The choir, established in 2017, has a long-lasting tradition of surprising their audience with a myriad of songs from all styles and eras. For the time being, the choir is still on hiatus.
